Paua Shell
Paua, also known as the sea opal, is commonly found in shallow coastal water areas around New Zealand and is the shell of a large sea snail.
Paua is primarily collected for its sea food, the shell is a by product
The shell is famous for the beautiful colours which create an iridescent swirl of intense blue, green and purple colours. Each individual shell is truly unique and it makes for some stunningly unusual jewellery.
Paua harvesting is subject to very strict licensing and controls.
Shell Jewellery
Shell is a natural product and by it's very design can be damaged if not cared for properly.
We strongly advise all our customers to take extra care when storing these items to prevent chips or cracks appearing in the shell.
Amber Jewellery
Amber is often confused with tree sap but is in fact fossilized resin. This resin produced by trees has a number of purposes such as protection against disease and to heal 'tree wounds'. The resin also has properties which either attract or repel insects. The fossilization of this tree resin takes millions of years with the majority of amber dating between 30 & 90 million years old.
Amber is a poor conductor of heat and as such always feel warm to the touch.
Most commonly found on the shores of the Baltic Sea, this fossilized resin comes in a number of colours.
Amber makes for a stunning jewellery collection.
